Takuya Okamoto
 

Takuva Okamoto was born in Fukuoka (Japan) in 1992 and started learning guitar at the age of ten with Yasufumi Hiratsuka and Masashi Shinohara. 

Under the guidance and teaching of the master Alvaro Pierri, he completed in 2018 his Master's degree at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna (Austria), where he was awarded the highest possible grade by unanimous decision.

Despite his young age, Takuya Okamoto has already been awarded multiple international competition prizes both across Europe and Japan and has been invited on numerous occasions to perform and teach at European guitar festivals. He is also currently sponsored by Savarez Strings and Aria Guitars.

Takuya Okamoto has not only demonstrated his distinguished musicianship as a soloist on several occasions - most notably with the New Philharmonic Orchestra Chiba of Japan - but also as a part of different chamber music ensembles, and is quickly establishing himself as one of the most brilliant guitarists in Japan today.

2010 Student scholarship of the Yamaha Musik Foundation, Cultural rookie award of Chiba, 2nd prize in Tokyo international Guitar Competition (Japan)

2016 1st prize in Altheim International Guitar Competition (Austria)

2017 2nd prize in Nordhorn International Guitar Competition (Germany), 2nd prize in Kutna Hora International Guitar Competition (Czech Republic), 2nd prize in Brno International Guitar Competition (Czech Republic)

2018 2nd prize in XIvth Alhambra International Competition (Spain)

2019 his CD „Sete Anéis" received a special award for best rating in the review magazine „Record Geijutsu".

2021 CD „1 - One -" received a special award for best rating in the review magazine „Record Geijutsu".

2022 CD „Toru Takemitsu SONGS" received a special award for best rating in the review magazine „Record Geijutsu".

2024 CD „Les Bergeries" will be released.
